Bedford North Lawrence extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 6-17. They came up short against the Edgewood Mustangs, falling 10-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-2 back in April.
Sara Williams made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Adalynn Bailey, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
As for Edgewood, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-3. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Edgewood's side, ALLY BLAND made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. BLAND has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, ELLA SPROUL and MADI BLAND did most of the damage at the plate: SPROUL went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while MADI got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI SPROUL has posted since back in April. SYDNEY AUSTIN was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Coming up, Bedford North Lawrence will square off against Monrovia at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Edgewood, they will venture away from home to face off against Martinsville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
