Canutillo is 9-1 against Jefferson since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will take on the Silver Foxes at 6:30 p.m. Canutillo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Jefferson will be up against a hot Canutillo team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles put the hurt on Chapin with a sharp 13-6 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Aaron Alvarado was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Melendez, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Jefferson couldn't beat El Paso on Thursday even though they stacked ten runs on them in the fourth inning. The Silver Foxes lost 23-10 to the Tigers. The Silver Foxes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jefferson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Cabral, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The Silver Foxes are 4-1 when Cabral posts two or more runs, but 6-12 otherwise. Another was Eden Perez, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Canutillo's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.
Jefferson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Canutillo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. It's a different story for Jefferson, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Canutillo's hitters?
Canutillo took their victory against Jefferson in their previous matchup on April 2nd by a conclusive 16-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
