After both having extra time off, The Lee's Summit West Titans and the Rockhurst Hawklets will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Lee's Summit West is ranked sixth, while Rockhurst is ranked fourth).
Lee's Summit West had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They were beaten by Liberty North 43-12 on Friday. It was the first time this season that Lee's Summit West let down their fans at home.
Lee's Summit West's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tayveon Simms, who picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Caden Carter who threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Simms' longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards.
Meanwhile, Rockhurst had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five two weeks ago. They enjoyed a cozy 40-22 victory over St. Louis University. Rockhurst had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rockhurst to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Hansen, who threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Jack Bichelmeyer did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 121 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Liberty North's win bumped their season record to 8-1 while Lee's Summit West's loss dropped theirs to 7-2.
Lee's Summit West came up short against Rockhurst in their previous meeting back in October of 2021, falling 21-10. Can Lee's Summit West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
