Evan Swain was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ralphie Rhodes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Ravenswood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for St. Marys' offense. They lost 7-0 to South Harrison on Thursday. The Blue Devils' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
St. Marys saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Eisenbarth, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
St. Marys' defeat dropped their record down to 6-14-1. As for Ravenswood, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ravenswood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Marys struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Ravenswood was able to grind out a solid win over St. Marys when the teams last played on April 9th, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
