Stringer is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Sumrall is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Stringer Red Devils will host the Sumrall Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Stringer proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Northeast Jones.

Madilyn Graham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Stringer got a massive performance out of Jaycee Holifield, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Holifield a new career-high in home runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Douglas, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3.
Stringer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast Jones only posted a batting average of .120.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sumrall ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past South Jones 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Avery Smith spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kynnedy Lumpkins, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Kynlee Speed was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
Stringer is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. Sumrall's win bumped their record up to 13-2.
Sumrall's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Stringer has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Sumrall, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Stringer keep running through batters, or will Sumrall buck the trend?
Stringer couldn't quite finish off Sumrall in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Stringer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
