The Massena Raiders were the 55-53 winner over the South Jefferson Spartans when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. Massena was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 54-53 to South Jefferson.
When it comes to explaining why Massena lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colin Patterson. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Taylor Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Massena's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for South Jefferson, they pushed their record up to 8-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Massena will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Franklin Academy at 7:45 p.m. on February 21st. As for South Jefferson, they will be playing at home against General Brown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
