The Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 58-45 to Unicoi County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elizabethton in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost four in a row.
Unicoi County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kolby Jones led the charge by scoring 18 points. Jackson Simmons was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Elizabethton has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Unicoi County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 19-7.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Science Hill the next time they take the court. Unicoi County will host Science Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Elizabethton will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
