The Riverside Generals will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Riverside is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Last Friday, Riverside earned a 32-23 win over Ribault. Given Riverside's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Ribault is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverside can attribute much of their success to Kennvontae Sharrow, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Another reason for the win was Riverside's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Demontra Burnett and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Episcopal School of Jacksonville's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Victory Christian Academy and snuck past 10-7. The win made it back-to-back wins for Episcopal School of Jacksonville.
Episcopal School of Jacksonville found their leader in underclassman Alex Hicks, who rushed for 103 yards on only 12 carries. Carson Magyar got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Riverside has yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Westside and 2-8 Parker (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38% over those games). As for Episcopal School of Jacksonville, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
