Connelly School of the Holy Child will be playing in front of their home fans against the Potomac School Panthers at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Connelly School of the Holy Child faced St. Andrew's Episcopal in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Connelly School of the Holy Child was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to St. Andrew's Episcopal. Connelly School of the Holy Child has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Potomac School struggled with threes last Friday (Sidwell Friends had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Potomac School opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-42 defeat to Sidwell Friends. Potomac School has struggled against Sidwell Friends recently, as their contest last Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zora Burrell, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and six steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Anderson, who scored 15 points.
Connelly School of the Holy Child's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5. As for Potomac School, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Connelly School of the Holy Child didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Potomac School when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory. Does Connelly School of the Holy Child have another victory up their sleeve, or will Potomac School turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
