Brighton pushed their score all the way to 80 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 89-80 hit to the loss column at the hands of Irondequoit. That's two games in a row now that Brighton has lost by exactly nine points.
Meanwhile, Gates Chili was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 59-54 to Webster Schroeder. Gates Chili has struggled against Webster Schroeder recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Gates Chili had strong showings from Joey Vigerzi, who scored 15 points, and Jeremy Tantalo, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was DarQuinn Johnson, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Brighton and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Gates Chili, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Brighton was able to grind out a solid victory over Gates Chili in their previous matchup back in January, winning 67-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brighton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
