The Fredonia Hillbillies will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Salamanca Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Fredonia's strategy against Southwestern on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Fredonia blew Southwestern out of the water with a 82-46 final score. With Fredonia ahead 51-31 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Fredonia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Davion White led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Hahn, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 2 assists.
Meanwhile, Salamanca had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They blew past Dunkirk 69-48. Given Salamanca's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Dunkirk is ranked 591st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The victory makes it two in a row for Fredonia and bumps their season record up to 11-6. As for Salamanca, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Fredonia was dealt a bruising 75-47 loss at the hands of Salamanca in their previous matchup back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Fredonia was down 44-18.
