Mission Vista will face off against the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Mission Vista is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Vista on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what Mission Vista needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Macy Milena made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Leah Harris was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three doubles, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Liliana Gonzales was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Mission Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel made easy work of Escondido on Wednesday and carried off a 12-1 win. The game marked the Sundevils' most dominant victory of the season.
Like Mission Vista, Mt. Carmel also got a great game from a two-way player: Naya Leuck. Throwing, Leuck pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Chloe Millard pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Leuck scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Millard scored a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Jordan Grimaud was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Madie Codner, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
The win made it two in a row for Mt. Carmel and bumps their season record up to 7-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Mission Vista, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-8 record.
Mission Vista was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Carmel when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 5-2. Does Mission Vista have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Carmel turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
