Last Friday, everything went Oakland's way against the Titans as the Wildcats made off with a 55-34 victory. Given Oakland's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Titans are ranked 612th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oakland had a senior duo take command as Isaac Johnson scored 16 points along with three steals and Anthony Lacy scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Johnson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jonathan Chapple was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Modesto Christian came tearing into Saturday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 63-44 win over Bishop O'Dowd.
Oakland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Modesto Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 22-3.
