Houston Math Science & Tech hasn't had much luck against Cesar E. Chavez recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Lobos at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Houston Math Science & Tech took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Wisdom 18-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Giuliana Montemayor made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Montemayor was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Houston Math Science & Tech got a massive performance out of Kathleen Gutierrez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Gutierrez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Garcia, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Cesar E. Chavez posted their closest win since March 7th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Bellaire 3-1. The Lobos have beaten the Cardinals the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cardinals has come to flipping the script.
Ava Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Ahmani Hawkins was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Houston Math Science & Tech picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Cesar E. Chavez, their record is now 8-6.
Houston Math Science & Tech suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Cesar E. Chavez in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
