This season hasn't been kind to the Fruitdale Pirates, who are still winless after their 20th match. They were outmatched by Elberta on the road and fell 77-47. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Fruitdale of the 53-40 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Fruitdale lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Deion Taylor. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points. That was a full 48.9% of Fruitdale's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Fruitdale's defeat was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Elberta, their victory bumped their record up to 8-20.
Fruitdale will head out on the road to face off against the Demons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McIntosh presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Pirates in Alabama (the Demons are ranked 142nd, while the Pirates are ranked 470th). Elberta does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
