Two dominant backs in Jaleel Sutton and Jacob Jimenez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Etiwanda Eagles will welcome the Chino Hills Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Etiwanda ended up a good deal behind Damien and lost 49-31. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Spartans are ranked 28th).
Despite the defeat, Etiwanda had strong showings from Keegan Campuzano, who rushed for 43 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Brandon Andrade, who picked up 123 receiving yards and one TD. Andrade showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 56 yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chino Hills). They blew past Ayala 49-0 on Friday. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 32 points or more this season.
Etiwanda better keep an eye on Alex Medyn. He was instrumental in Chino Hills' win, rushing for 61 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 281 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. That's the most passing yards Medyn has posted since back in September of 2024. A healthy portion of Medyn's aerial production (123 yards to be exact) went to Calum Ferrell.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Chino Hills, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Azari Warren, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Chino Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ashton Bateman and Kenneth Higgins.
Chino Hills has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.5 points on average over those games. As for Etiwanda, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Etiwanda was taken down by Chino Hills 38-7 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 28-7.
