Quantico will head out on the road to face off against Immanuel Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Quantico is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
On Wednesday, Quantico came up short against Randolph-Macon Academy and fell 8-5.
C Acevedo put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, G Wolfenbarker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Immanuel Christian). They blew past Randolph-Macon Academy 10-1 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Like Quantico, Immanuel Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Caleb Fiala. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Fiala has become a key player for Immanuel Christian: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-6 otherwise. Fiala was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Klapmust, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Clayton Miller was another key player, earning two RBI and one run.
Immanuel Christian picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Quantico, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Quantico has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Immanuel Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Quantico couldn't quite get it done against Immanuel Christian when the teams last played last Monday as they fell 6-3. Can Quantico avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
