Perry Central is 8-2 against Springs Valley since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Commodores will look to defend their home field against the Blackhawks at 5:30 p.m. Perry Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Perry Central is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Wood Memorial.
Dylan Mullis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Griffin Harpenau, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Springs Valley posted their closest win since April 3rd on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Tell City. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blackhawks.
Landon Weeks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. Springs Valley is 4-2 when Weeks allows three or fewer earned runs, but 3-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Springs Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Simon Allstott, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Braylon Kovas also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Springs Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Perry Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Perry Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Springs Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Perry Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Springs Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Commodores have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blackhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
