The Seaside Spartans will stay at home for another week and welcome the Monterey Dores at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. After the pair made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
After only seven points in their last matchup, Seaside made sure to put some points up on the board against St. Francis on Friday. Everything went Seaside's way against St. Francis as Seaside made off with a 49-28 victory.
Meanwhile, Monterey put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 50-24 margin over Everett Alvarez. Given Monterey's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Everett Alvarez is ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monterey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Preston White, who threw for 247 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Kavon Collins, who picked up 157 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Monterey's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Soakai Funaki.
Seaside is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Monterey, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Seaside couldn't quite finish off Monterey when the teams last played back in November of 2022 and fell 29-27. Will Seaside have more luck at home instead of on the road?
