Avon is 1-9 against Brownsburg since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Avon Orioles will take on the Brownsburg Bulldogs in a tournament on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Avon turned things around against North Central on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with a 78-55 win. The Orioles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 23 points or more this season.

Aniah Smith was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 17 on her way to 26 points and five steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaylee Butts, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds.
Avon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.
Meanwhile, Brownsburg faced Center Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Brownsburg took down Center Grove 66-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Avon better keep an eye on Avery Gordon. She was instrumental in Brownsburg's win, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 11 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gordon has scored at least a third of Brownsburg's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Brown, who posted five points along with five assists and three steals.
Brownsburg is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Avon has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29 boards per game. However, it's not like Brownsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Avon and Brownsburg were neck-and-neck when the teams last played two weeks ago, but Avon came up empty-handed after a 66-65 loss. Can Avon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
