Priest River extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 11-3. They walked away with a 15-11 victory over the Kellogg Wildcats. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 9-7 victory on Friday.
Broden Collins and Jacob Best made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Collins didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Best tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Collins has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Collins went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Best got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layton Goins, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025. Brady Hatten was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
As for Kellogg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.
On Kellogg's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Cassidy, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another was Preston Graaskamp, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Priest River is set to square off against their familiar foe St. Maries at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Kellogg will face off against rival Grangeville at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
