The Hamilton Heights Huskies will face off against the Sheridan Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hamilton Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Hamilton Heights took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Western 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted since May 10, 2024.
Heather Crays was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamryn Rhoton, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Meanwhile, Sheridan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Horizon Christian, falling 12-6.
Abbi Merritt was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Amiyah Doss was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Hamilton Heights has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Sheridan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything went Hamilton Heights' way against Sheridan in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Hamilton Heights made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blackhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
