The Northern Huskies will head out on the road to square off against the Mountain Ridge Miners at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Northern came up short against Southern and fell 61-49. Northern has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Mountain Ridge, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-43 loss to Allegany on Wednesday. Mountain Ridge has not had much luck with Allegany recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Cameron Breighner, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that he grabbed two or more steals. Cobe Penick was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Northern has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Mountain Ridge, they bumped their record down to 5-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Northern was taken down by Mountain Ridge 70-42 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Northern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
