The Solon Comets will take on the Perry Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Solon has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight losses, while Perry will come in with four straight victories.
Solon's last matchup with Wadsworth could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Comets lost 12-3 to the Grizzlies.
Ali Palsa was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Bush, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Perry got the win against Lakeside on Monday by a conclusive 20-2. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Morgan Winters made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Perry got a massive performance out of Elise Strahan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Arianna Rogers was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Perry's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Solon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Solon might still be hurting after the 10-4 loss they got from Perry in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
