Even though the Sabino Sabercats have not done well against the Thatcher Eagles recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Sabino secured a 56-50 W over Thatcher. The win was nothing new for Sabino as they're now sitting on three straight.
Sabino's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Herndon, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Herndon is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Hackworth, who scored ten points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaac Palmer, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Wyatt Nicholas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Sabino is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. As for Thatcher, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.
Sabino will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Palo Verde at 7:00 p.m. Palo Verde is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Thatcher, they will challenge Tanque Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tanque Verde is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.4 points per game.
