St. Monica had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They strolled past the Victory Christian Academy Knights with points to spare, taking the game 60-44. Given the Mariners' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Knights are ranked 544th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angel Ochoa, who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points and three steals. Ochoa's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Troy Tominna, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

St. Monica's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Victory Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

St. Monica didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-35 win against Sacramento on the 27th. As for Victory Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-62 victory against Del Norte on the 27th.
