The Hays Indians lost against the Heights Falcons back in January of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Hays received a tough blow as they fell 57-38 to Heights. While losing is never fun, Hays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Heights is ranked 22nd).
T.J. Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals for Heights. The match was Williams' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aven Mboule, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Hays and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Heights, their victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Hays will be home for the holidays to greet Liberal at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Liberal focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday. Heights will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on East at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. East is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
