Basketball Recap: Cienega Skates Past Nogales with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Cienega's strategy against Nogales on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cienega Bobcats blew the Nogales Apaches out of the water with an 85-56 final score. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bobcats had established a 28 point advantage.

Cienega was led to victory by Jackson Moore and Gabe Buksh. Moore went 9 of 12 en route to 22 points and five assists, while Buksh posted 11 points along with five assists and four steals. That's the most points Moore has posted since back in November of 2024. Kristian DelRio was another key player, putting up 15 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Cienega was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nogales only posted ten assists.

Nogales lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Antonio Rodriguez, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Aidan Vasavilbaso, who made all 6 shots he took to post 16 points.

Cienega pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.7 points per game. As for Nogales, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Cienega has already played their next game, a 92-44 win against Desert View on the 23rd. As for Nogales, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 72-42 defeat against Buena on the 23rd.
