Taylor County has gone 6-0-1 against Rickards recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Taylor County: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Rickards has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
On Monday, Taylor County came up short against Trenton and fell 8-5.
Kiersten Carter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jayden Freed, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.
Rickards never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against FAMU DRS on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Baby Rattlers. Considering the Raiders have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sheyenne Holmes was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Holmes was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.
In other batting news, Aiyanna Garcia was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Brookyln Schimek was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Rickards is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Taylor County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-17.
Everything went Taylor County's way against Rickards when the teams last played on Wednesday, as Taylor County made off with a 9-0 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
