South View has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Fayetteville Christian Warriors in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, South View was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Seventy-First. While losing is never fun, South View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Seventy-First is ranked 85th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Chase Evans, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Evans is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mikayle Oliphant, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 80-33 loss at the hands of Wayne Country Day.
South View's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-3. As for Fayetteville Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for South View against Fayetteville Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 as the team secured a 76-45 win. Will South View repeat their success, or does Fayetteville Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
