The Basalt Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 22 points or more this season. They breezed by Grand Valley at home to the tune of 71-25. That 71-25 margin sets a new team best for Basalt this season.
Basalt's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wyatt Loomis, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Taylor Hays was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
Despite the defeat, Grand Valley saw an underclassman step up: Trey Teter scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him.
Grand Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The win got Basalt back to even at 4-4. As for Grand Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games.
