Southwest Suburban - Red recap September 10, 2013
Thornwood was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in Southwest Suburban - Red. Earlier in the week, the Thunderbirds triumphed over Rich South 28-12.
Lincoln-Way Central moved up to 65 from 96 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Knights were able to make move up by falling to Lincoln-Way East 17-12.
Julian Hylton provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lincoln-Way North topped Hillcrest. Hylton's favorite target this week was Kyle Ostrowski, who caught 4 passes for 58 yards.
Hylton was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 205 yards on 20 carries as the Phoenix bested the Hawks. Ramal Bell also contributed to the rushing game with 11 yards on the ground.
Steven Stremme made the biggest impact on defense this week as Lincoln-Way North topped Hillcrest. The 5-foot-11 defensive lineman racked up 2.0 sacks.
Ostrowski was the best wideout in Southwest Suburban - Red this week as George Czart's team topped the Hawks. Nicholas Bucci helped Lincoln-Way North's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 44 yards.
Gionte Mason put up the best numbers through the air as Bradley-Bourbonnais bested Kankakee. He finished with 5 completions for 55 yards. Mason's favorite target this week was L J Harris, who caught 3 passes for 30 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Thornton takes on Thornwood. As it stands, the Wildcats are in fourth, while Wilber Milhouse's team is in third.
The Phoenix took down Hillcrest 37-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hylton in the win.
