The Owen Valley Patriots were the 39-28 winner over the Edgewood Mustangs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Owen Valley lost to Edgewood at home by a decisive 57-43 margin on Friday.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lily Smith, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor York, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Edgewood found their leader in underclassman Macey Crider, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Allison Bland, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Owen Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Edgewood, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owen Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Edgewood, they will head out on the road to square off against Eastern Greene at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastern Greene is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
