The Torrington Raiders had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They secured a 49-45 W over Watertown. This was payback for Torrington, who suffered a 54-40 loss the last time these two teams met.
Sofia Calabrese was a one-man wrecking crew for Torrington as she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Calabrese has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Haley Burger, who scored 11 points.
Torrington pushed their record up to 11-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Watertown, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Coincidentally, Torrington and Watertown will both be playing Oxford the next time they take the court. Torrington will host Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Watertown will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
