It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Valley View had no problem doing just that on Monday. They never let the Northern Lebanon Vikings get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Taylor Cawley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Cawley wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ella Swingle, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Valley View's victory bumped their record up to 21-2-1. As for Northern Lebanon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-6 record this season.
