Barron Collier and Naples are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Cougars will square off against the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Barron Collier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Barron Collier will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating American Heritage, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Cougars came out on top against the Stallions by a score of 4-1 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Barron Collier's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carson Felts, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits Felts has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Naples walked away with it. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Trojans on Monday. The Golden Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
CHASE BAKER looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Naples' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 6-16 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, ETHAN KATZ and NICO BLANCO did most of the damage at the plate: KATZ scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while BLANCO got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Naples is 7-2 when BLANCO posts two or more runs, but 3-14 otherwise. DEVIN DUNFORD was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Naples was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Barron Collier's victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Naples, their win bumped their record up to 10-16.
Everything went Barron Collier's way against Naples in their previous meeting back in March, as Barron Collier made off with a 15-2 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
