The Weston Silver Eagles will square off against the De Soto Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Weston 3.9, De Soto 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Weston is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since May 28, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Seneca by a score of 7-5. Silver Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Indians since on Monday.
Garrett Granger made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Coy, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, De Soto entered their tilt with La Farge on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 17-3 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Lane Ghelf made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Finn Wrobel was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last ten games. Another player making a difference was Bryce Schultz, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

De Soto's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Weston, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Weston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like De Soto struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Weston skirted past De Soto 2-0 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Silver Eagles repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
