The Wayne Trace Raiders are on the road again on Thursday and plays the Fairview Apaches at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Wayne Trace's strategy against Continental on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Wayne Trace blew Continental out of the water with a 50-14 final score. Given Wayne Trace's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Continental is ranked 747th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Fairview came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 43-42 win over Patrick Henry.
Wayne Trace has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Fairview, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Wayne Trace, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-31 loss to Fairview when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Wayne Trace avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
