The Carver Panthers were the 38-5 winner over the Douglass Astros when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Carver fell 17-7 to Douglass on Friday. Carver has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Carver saw an underclassman step up: Lataious Stepp jr. rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Leading Douglass to victory were Kenyon Stocker and John Wilson. Stocker picked up 76 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Wilson rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Carver's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Douglass, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
After each having a week off, Carver and Cedar Grove will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 8:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Cedar Grove is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
