The Flowing Wells Caballeros had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Cholla on the road to the tune of 56-22. Given Flowing Wells' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Cholla is ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Flowing Wells found their leader in underclassman Brianna Potter, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Potter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Verdugo, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Flowing Wells has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Cholla, they bumped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flowing Wells will take on Salpointe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salpointe Catholic is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Cholla, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mountain View is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
