Speedway is 0-3 against Danville since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Speedway sitting on three straight victories and Danville on seven.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Speedway walked away with it. They walked away with a 52-42 win over the on Saturday.
It was another big night for Alex DeLisle, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Austin, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Danville can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They breezed by Lebanon on the road to the tune of 53-14. Given Danville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Lebanon is ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Danville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Ancelet, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists. Addison Davis was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Speedway has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Danville, their win bumped their record up to 22-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Speedway have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Danville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Speedway took a serious blow against Danville when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 82-48. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Speedway was down 46-26.
