The Crestwood Red Devils will be home for the holidays to greet the Wickliffe Blue Devils at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Even though Crestwood has not done well against Kirtland recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Crestwood slipped by Kirtland 39-38.
Crestwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Livia Martini led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Ward, who scored 14 points along with six steals.
Even though Wickliffe has not done well against Berkshire recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Wickliffe strolled past Berkshire with points to spare, taking the game 41-26. Given Wickliffe's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Berkshire is ranked 645th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crestwood now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Wickliffe, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Crestwood against Wickliffe in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 53-13 win. With Crestwood ahead 33-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
