The South San Francisco Warriors will square off against the King City Mustangs on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South San Francisco is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Soledad as they made off with an 11-1 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Sydney Semans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Madyson Jade Quintanilla was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Miley Salvatore was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
South San Francisco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, King City never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Independence as they made off with a 16-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Not much got past Alizah Carrillo, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Independence off the board.
At the plate, Janesa Lopez was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Romero, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
South San Francisco's record now sits at 16-8. As for King City, their record is now 17-11.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South San Francisco hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .402. However, it's not like King City struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
