The Hugo Buffaloes lost against the Ada Cougars back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Hugo fell 57-48 to Ada. While losing is never fun, Hugo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Ada is ranked 51st).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ada to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Colombe, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Colombe continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Maccollister, who scored 17 points along with five assists.
Hugo has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Ada, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Hugo will be playing at home against Kingston at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ada's road trip will continue as they head out to face Millwood at 11:30 a.m. on January 18th.
