The Central Bucks East Patriots will challenge the Council Rock South Golden Hawks at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Central Bucks East earned a 14-11 victory over William Penn Charter. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly three runs.
Michael Colbert looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, Chase Fulford and Nolan Behm did most of the damage at the plate: Fulford scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Behm went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Behm has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack Thompson, who went 1-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Council Rock South waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Galloping Ghosts get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Golden Hawks yet this season.
Council Rock South also got a great performance from Jimmy Clark as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Billy O'Neill, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Owen McLean was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Council Rock South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Council Rock South pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. Central Bucks East has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Central Bucks East came out on top in a nail-biter against Council Rock South in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Does Central Bucks East have another victory up their sleeve, or will Council Rock South turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
