Basketball Game Preview: San Marcos Knights vs. Poway Titans

San Marcos is 8-2 against Poway since December of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The San Marcos Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Poway Titans at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in San Marcos' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.

San Marcos is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Mt. Carmel 98-67. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 21 points or more this season.

San Marcos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Richie Ramirez, who went 8 for 14 en route to 20 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. The game was Ramirez's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jalen Williams, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Poway hadn't done well against Mission Hills recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Poway snuck past Mission Hills with a 54-49 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Titans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 184th).

San Marcos' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.2 points. As for Poway, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 16-9.

Everything came up roses for San Marcos against Poway in their previous matchup last Tuesday, as the squad secured an 82-48 win. Will San Marcos repeat their success, or does Poway have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
