4A District 3 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Deming was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Silver. The Wildcats came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Deming and the Fighting Colts played the most hotly contested game in 4A District 3 this week, with Deming eventually emerging with a 14-12 victory. Ismail Garrett ran for 212 yards in the win.
Fernie Holguin's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. David Padron threw for 70 yards and Richard Regalado had 43 yards receiving. Jerome Sandoval helped Deming's passing attack out by catching four balls for 27 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback A.J. Sedillo of Santa Teresa is the league leader in passing yards this season with 620. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, the Wildcats' Garrett has rushed for 610 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Christian Ramos. The Chaparral star has 35 catches for 426 yards.
Centennial led the league in scoring this week after putting up 30 points on Hatch Valley.
