Basketball Recap: Loachapoka Falls Despite Big Games from Zay Shaw and Jordan Tyner

Loachapoka lost against Auburn back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The game between the Loachapoka Indians and the Auburn Tigers didn't end well, with the Loachapoka Indians falling 62-43. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Tigers are ranked 20th).

Loachapoka's loss came despite strong showings from Jordan Tyner and Zay Shaw. Tyner went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points and three steals, while Shaw almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. That's the most points Shaw has posted since back in December of 2023. JaMichael Morris was another key player, putting up seven points.

Loachapoka dropped their record down to 3-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Auburn, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Loachapoka will be playing in front of their home fans against Alabama Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Auburn, they will venture away from home to square off against Montgomery Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
