John Paul the Great Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past the Acadiana Christian Lions 46-26. The victory was familiar territory for the Guardians, who have now won 12 contests in a row dating back to last season.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Riley Lormand and Jonah Petitt. Lormand rushed for 203 yards and three scores on only 14 carries while Petitt rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries.
John Paul the Great Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 419 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 211 rushing yards in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.
