After flying high against the Colton Wildcats last Friday, the Genesee Bulldogs came back down to earth. Genesee took a serious blow against Lapwai on Wednesday, falling 103-25. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Genesee in their matchups with Lapwai: they've now lost six in a row.
Teak Wareham was Genesee's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Wareham also led the team in rebounds with four.
Kase Wynott was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-7 from downtown and dropping a triple-double on 47 points, 17 rebounds, and 12 assists for Lapwai. Wynott is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ahlius Yearout, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Genesee's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lapwai, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Genesee won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pomeroy at 6:30 p.m. on January 4th. Pomeroy will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Lapwai, they will head out on the road to take on Troy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Troy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Idaho Rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Lapwai is ranked tenth).
